Virtual Communities of Practice are an increasingly popular method of enhancing collaboration between groups of people developing a common practice on problems, ideas and solutions using remote interaction. These groups, by combining educational techniques and learning experiences, produce a store of knowledge that is compact, substantial and active, thus creating a base of added value in education. This project will explore how Virtual Communities of Practice can enhance the education and teaching of vocational subjects in vocational schools and whether it is possible for the respective professionals in the field to participate and contribute to this process. As part of the overall process, we are implementing and evaluating a collaborative platform through which some cases of cooperation of students, teachers and professionals will be studied in practice. The issues that will be studied are of educational and practical nature in order to highlight the usefulness of the Virtual Communities of Practice in vocational education.
