    This project was written to determine digital camera sensors and sensor systems. Terminology related to sensors and their charactiristics is also discussed. More spesifically, the sensor technology is studied as well as the factors that have an impact on the quality of a sensor. In addition, the various kinds of sensors are mentioned and are compared. Second, the operation of the sensor is described. A reference is made to the conversion of the analogue signal to digital signal and to the creation of colour. Special emphasis is put on the resolution of the sensor and its relation to the quality of the picture and the possibilities there are to process the picture. Finally, new sensor technology used in modern digital cameras is mentioned.
