Περίληψη
This thesis analyzes the study of combustion of OTTO, DIESEL engines and turbo differences compared to atmospherical applications. As far as internal combustion engines, it all started by Jean Josef Lenoir. Then Nicolaus Otto presented the gasoline engine and Rudolf Diesel presented the diesel engine. Additionally, during the 1930s, Felix Wankel presented his own petrol engine. Moreover internal combustion engines are classified according to the fuel, intake pressure, operating times, number of valves per cylinder, cooling system and the piston’s movement and geometry. Furthermore, the parts of an engine and available forms of combustion chambers are displayed. Besides that, control combustion mechanisms in diesel and gasoline engines are analyzed. Supercharging affects the combustion of engines, which is why we study the ways that engines could be supercharged. Then the effect of supercharging in emissions of petrol and diesel engines are investigated. The baton gets the presentation of conventional and turbocharged engines market trends. Finally atmospheric, turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines are compared concerning to engine parts, maintenance costs, construction costs, performance, market costs and lifetime. It is obvious that the turbo has a short head on the mechanical supercharger.
