| dc.description.abstract | Η διπλωματική αυτή εργασία αποτελεί μία εισαγωγή στα φαινόμενα της μη γραμμικής οπτικής, με έμφαση στα οπτικά σολιτόνια. Αρχικά αναλύονται τα οπτικά δίκτυα και το πρόβλημα της χρωματικής διασποράς. Στη συνέχεια περιγράφεται η μη γραμμική εξίσωση Schrödinger , η εξαναγκασμένη σκέδαση Raman και Brillouin καθώς και το οπτικό φαινόμενο Kerr. Τέλος ακολουθεί μία αναλυτική περιγραφή των χωρικών και χρωνικών οπτικών σολιτονίων καθώς επίσης και οι βασικότερες τεχνολογικές εφαρμογές τους. | el |
| dc.description.abstract | This thesis serves as an introduction to nonlinear optics; particular emphasis is given on optical Solitons and related nonlinear phenomena. Starting from a description of optical networks and the problem of group velocity dispersion, we proceed with a brief discussion of nonlinear Schrödinger equation, stimulated Raman and Brillouin scattering as well as the optical Kerr effect. Further, the theory of spatial and temporal optical Solitons is described, followed by their most important applications in technology. | en |
