dc.description.abstractΣτις μέρες μας, η τεχνολογία τρίτης γενιάς κινητών επικοινωνιών που χρησιμοποιείται παγκοσμίως είναι το W-CDMA (Wideband-Code Division Multiple Access). Σκοπός αυτής της πτυχιακής εργασίας είναι η ανάλυση της λειτουργίας του RAKE δέκτη και της διαδικασίας του Spreading-Despreading, που αποτελούν δύο από τα βασικότερα χαρακτηριστικά του W-CDMA, τα οποία προσδίδουν στο σύστημα τη δυνατότητα multimedia επικοινωνιών με υψηλούς ρυθμούς μετάδοσης δεδομένων. Η μελέτη τους πραγματοποιήθηκε μέσω προσομοιώσεων του προγράμματος Simulink 7.3 (Matlab 7.8 - R2009b), μετρώντας το Bit Error Rate και Block Error Rate κάτω από διαφορετικές συνθήκες διάδοσης σε αστικό περιβάλλον, αλλάζοντας κάθε φορά συγκεκριμένες παραμέτρους, όπως τον αριθμό των ενεργών fingers, την ταχύτητα της κινητής μονάδας και τον Spreading Factor, με σκοπό την εύρεση των παραμέτρων που οδηγούν στη βέλτιστη λειτουργία του συστήματος.el
dc.description.abstractNowadays, W-CDMA (Wideband-Code Division Multiple Access) technology is widely used all over the world for third generation mobile communications. The purpose of this thesis is the analysis of two significant characteristics of W-CDMA, namely, the function of RAKE receiver and the Spreading-Despreading procedure. Both of them provide the system with high data transmission rates, which are imperative for multimedia communications. The analysis was carried out through Simulink’s 7.3 (Matlab 7.8 - R2009b) simulations, by measuring the Bit Error Rate and the Block Error Rate under various propagation conditions in an urban area, by changing certain parameters each time, such as number of RAKE fingers enabled, Speed of Terminal and Spreading Factor, in order to find the parameters that lead to the optimum system’s function.en
