dc.description.abstractΣτην πρώτη ενότητα της παρούσης εργασίας, καταγράφεται η ιστορική αναδρομή στον όρο ευνουχισμός, (ορισμός, ορολογία, ετυμολογία, τεχνικές μέθοδοι και επιπτώσεις). Κατ’ επέκταση της πρώτης, στη δεύτερη ενότητα θα αναφερθούμε στις θέσεις που κατείχαν οι ευνούχοι, στην κοινωνία, την πολιτική, και την τέχνη. Στην τρίτη και στην τέταρτη ενότητα θα επικεντρώσουμε την προσοχή μας στους castrati, μια ιδιαίτερη ομάδα ευνούχων όπου η μουσική παιδεία και η εκπαίδευση που έλαβαν τους ανέδειξε ως ένα μοναδικό μακροχρόνιο κοινωνικό φαινόμενο, στην εξέλιξη του πολιτισμού και της ευρωπαϊκής μουσικής. Θα επιχειρήσουμε την αναφορά των κοινωνικών πτυχών που οδήγησαν στην ανέλιξη τους, από ασθενή οικονομικά κοινωνικά στρώματα σε δεσπόζουσες μορφές της κλασσικής μουσικής, του θεάτρου, της όπερας και των εκκλησιαστικών χορωδιών κατά τις περιόδους του Μπαρόκ και της Αναγέννησης. Ιδιαίτερα στην τέταρτη ενότητα θα σημειωθεί μια σύντομη αναφορά στον βίο διάσημων castrati. Στο τέλος αυτής της εργασίας, ελπίζουμε να έχουμε προσφέρει μια κατανόηση του ρόλου των ευνούχων και των castrati στην κοινωνία και την τέχνη, καθώς και να αναδείξουμε τις επιδράσεις που είχαν στον πολιτισμό του ανθρώπινου γένους. Θα πρέπει να επισημάνουμε ότι η πολυπλοκότητα και η ευαισθησία του θέματος, εξακολουθεί να απασχολεί τους ερευνητές, ανοίγοντας παράλληλα νέες προοπτικές κατανόησης της ανθρώπινης φύσης και της εξέλιξης των κοινωνικών δομών.el
dc.description.abstractThe goal of this dissertation is the study and detailing of the ancient procedure of castration, primarily but not limited to, in regards to its effects on society, focusing primarily on the music of the renaissance, as well as the characteristics and role that eunuchs and castrati played in forming and shaping it around the 17th to 18th century. The first chapter of the dissertation is primarily dedicated to a history recollection of castration itself, (definition, etymology, techniques and side effects). The second chapter as a consequence is more focused on the positions of castrati within society in regards to both politics and art. The third and the fourth chapters are going to be primarily focused on the castrati themselves, a phenomenon involving eunuchs focused and trained on musical education, who’ s musical ability caused them to rise to prominence and briefly overtake operatic and ecclesiastical music during the baroque period and the renaissance. Attention will also be paid to the social conditions that led to their rise, ranging both from a desire to escape poverty in the lower classes to wholesale dedication to the art form in the upper classes. The fourth chapter especially will focus on the biographies of famous singers. By the end of the dissertation, it is hoped that we will have offered a comprehensive understand of the role the eunuchs and castrati played in the forming and shaping of society and art, as well as the greater development of culture and civilization. It should be noted that the complexity and sensitivity of the subject continues to concern anthropologists in the modern day, while simultaneously offering alternative avenues to understand human nature and the evolution of society.en
